Mrs. Faye Gooding joined the town council in 2021. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School (1970), USC Salkehatchie with an Associate’s in Business Administration (1972), and later earned an Associate’s in Arts. She studied Business Law, Human Resources, and Health Education at the College of Charleston, and is certified in Retail and Store Management by the Friedman Group. Mrs. Gooding is also a 2025 graduate of the SC Institute of Elected Officials.
Mrs. Gooding retired in 2019 from Le Creuset, the world’s leading cookware brand, where she held several executive roles, most recently serving as CEO of Le Creuset North America. Under her guidance, the US launched its retail division and established subsidiaries in Canada and Mexico, both featuring retail operations. As CEO, she oversaw Le Creuset’s pioneering entry into ecommerce in the USA and Canada and helped expand the network to over a hundred retail stores across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Prior to her tenure at Le Creuset, Mrs. Gooding worked with the Low Country Area Health Consortium as Education Coordinator for SC Lowcountry Medical Professional Continuing Education Development and Administration for Medical Professionals.
Mrs. Gooding served on the Board of Directors of Hampton Regional Medical center for 6 years and as board Chair 1994-1996. Faye was recognized as the Southern Carolina Alliance Regional Businessperson of the year in 1997 and again in 2010 and was recognized as Citizen of the Year 2022-2023 by the Rotary Club of Hampton County. She also served as the county representative for the McKinney -Vento assistance program for displaced children and is a member of the Magnolia Garden Club. Mrs. Gooding is currently on the board of The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL) and serves as chair of the CFL Regional Committee. She is a member and pianist of Varnville Christian Church Disciples of Christ and led youth group for many years.
Faye has a heart for development of our socio economically challenged area, including the impact of nutrition on neurology/education, wellness and communities. She was a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and partnered with Share Our Strength during her tenure with Le Creuset and interacted with No Kid Hungry programs.
Mrs. Gooding was raised in rural, southern Hampton County, married Varnville native Dan Gooding in 1972 and moved to Charleston where they lived for more than two years before returning to their Hampton County roots. The couple purchased their Varnville home in 1975 where they raised their three children Nicole, Sommer and Justin and where Mrs. Gooding still resides. She enjoys time with her six grandchildren as well as reading, gardening, the ocean, and music.
