ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT
As prescribed by the South Carolina Code of Laws (SECTION 5- 5-10). The Town of Varnville has a Council form of Government. The council is comprised of six council members and a mayor. The Town of Varnville Code of Ordinances establishes an Office of Administrator (Article IV. Sec 2-120).
-Upon the vacancy or absence of the administrator the council will designate a qualified person to provide adequate administrative supervision to the departments and town operations.
-The mayor is currently considered the chief administrative officer.
-The Town Council establishes policy and procedures and via consent of Council or Council Committees the mayor administers implementation and operations with each department head.
-Individual Council Members limit involvement with day-to-day operations and refrain from individual personnel matters.
